Let Me State This in Words Only I Can Understand

Let Me State This in Words Only I Can Understand

by John Grey

Today’s relationships

are sufficient enough

to maintain the human population

and fill the available living spaces

but not wise enough apparently

to explore more thoroughly

the opportunities offered

by this status-quo.

You need to understand

that our ongoing comfort

need not be compromised

by situations

whose solutions lie elsewhere.

In other words,

there is no need

for your mother

to be living with us.

John Grey is an Australian poet, US resident. Recently published in the Tau, Studio One and Columbia Review with work upcoming in Naugatuck River Review, Examined Life Journal and Midwest Quarterly.
